Protein malnutrition is the main determinant of fraility and sarcopenia in elderly people. Specific EAA mixture may contribute to slow-down mitochondrial dysfunction and to ameliorate clinical status.
- 155 elderly malnourished patients
- randomised in 2 groups: EAAs and placebo supplementation
- followed for 2 months
- oxidative stress in plasma
- mitochondrial production of ATP and cellular respiration in peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
